Can anyone give me feedback on www.capitainetrain.com, a website for purchasing European rail tickets? I've seen chatter here from a year ago, but it's relatively new and I'd love to know people's more recent experiences with it.
Does the purchasing process go smoothly? Anyone have problems actually using the tickets? Is there anything about this site to be wary of? Any other advice? Thanks _ Alan in DC
I have used them. The credit card vetting process is much smoother than SNCF. The ticket prices are exactly the same, including any Prems special prices. When you download the tickets, they are actual SNCF tickets, identical to SNCF print at home tickets you would get from them. The conductor scans the ticket after departure and smiles and says "Merci et Bon Voyage."
We were slow to jump on the bandwagon when they were new, but I'd say they have at least a year of positive experiences behind them, now. I have not heard any complaints.
I love the site. Much easier to navigate than SNCF. All the tickets I bought worked like a charm, no problems at all.
