Using American mobile phone in London

You won't be able to use it as a phone because Verizon is on a different network, but I brought mine for the wireless capability instead of bringing a laptop. I also had the Rick Steves books on there in electronic format, and those along with other apps that don't require internet or data were great to have there. And it was great to use for email access when I did have wireless available. You can however rent a Global phone from Verizon, which we also did. Your number gets transferred to the rented phone and you can transfer all of your contacts to the phone. It was $20 for shipping both ways and $4.99/month prorated. Then it was $1.25 minute for phone calls and $0.25 texts sent and $0.10 or $0.05 for texts received. Due to the expense, we used it for emergencies and used the texts for general communication. It was nice having our regular phone number though.
