US to Australia Laptop Adapter??

Hi - I am moving to Sydney at the end of the month from the US, and I need to know what to take to convert my laptop to Aus electricity. It is a standard Dell 3-prong laptop adapter. Will I only need a 3-prong Aus adapter, or will I have to go for a converter also?

Thanks! :)

You just need a plug adapter. Computers manufactured in recent years are already designed to use world voltage.

MLR,

You'll first have to check the nameplate ratings on the Charger supplied with your Laptop to determine the Input Voltage specifications. If this states "100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz", then you'll just need a Plug Adapter to operate in Australia.

The Plug Adapter for Australia looks like This. You can obtain these at Magellans, Radio Shack or most travel & luggage stores.

Happy travels!

Since you're moving there, you might also consider picking up a new power cord (that is the cord between the power supply and the wall) once you're there. The plug into the power supply is standard, so it should be easy to find and reasonably priced at any electronics type store, just bring your current one.
