My time flies.... I just noticed that my husband's US passport expires January 30, 2015.
We are traveling to the UK on Sept 20 and returning to US on Oct 4th. Also, we are connecting in Stockholm enroute to Edinburgh, but won't be leaving the airport. Will there be any issues with his passport expiring not quite 4 months after our return? Just a little concerned that we are now with 38 days of traveling if he needs a new passport before our trip.
After changing my search question, I found the following on the US State Department Web site, but haven't found anything on a UK government site confirming the same.
While some countries impose minimum passport validity for arriving passengers, there is no such requirement for U.S. citizens entering the United Kingdom. U.S. citizens seeking entry as tourists or visitors are required to present a valid passport.
This is the statement on gov.UK:
You’re not from an EEA country
You must have a valid passport to enter the UK. It must be valid throughout your stay

Marco beat me to it.
State almost got it right, bless their hearts.
What part did state get wrong?
Sounds like they are saying the same thing to me....in any event your current passport is good for travel. The expiration rule is a non-issue for the UK.
State didn't carry it as far as Marco did. It can't expire the day after your arrive for Pete's sake. It only addresses 'seeking entry'. Completeness counts, that's why there's so much bum scoop floating around.
Basic rule: If you want information go to the source, not a darn echo chamber.
