US Passport commemorative edition

Not sure exactly where to put this, but you can get the current President's commemorative passport nationwide now.

"In response to overwhelming demand, the Department of State is making an additional 250,000 of the special commemorative passports available to the public. Americans all across the country will now have the opportunity to apply for one of these additional special passports, known as the “Patriot Passport.”

Since its release in celebration of 250 years of American independence, the commemorative passport has generated extraordinary public interest. The Department of State is responding by expanding access so Americans across the country can obtain this unique and special document. The Department is hosting application events at passport agencies and centers for patriots all across our nation.

The commemorative passport features custom artwork connecting America’s past to the present, including a portrait of President Donald J. Trump alongside the text of the Declaration of Independence, a Freedom 250 gold flag, and an image of the Founding Fathers signing the Declaration of Independence.

Appointments are required to apply for the “Patriot Passport.” To learn about application events near you and how to schedule an appointment, visit travel.state.gov/passport250."

"In response to overwhelming demand,..."

And I have a bridge to sell if anyone's interested.

Looking at the list of cities that will be 'hosting' a special application event, I am surprised at some of the cities that are included.

I suspect in some locations there will be more protesters than applicants on the event day.

Initially, I was actually panicking because mine will soon need to be renewed and I wrongly assumed this was the default option rather than a voluntary opt-in.

Honestly, The Onion nor dystopian future novels could make this stuff up.

I was freaked out that he might be on all of the new passports. So relieved it is by request only.
Who would want to travel with that for the next 10 years?

“Patriot Passport?” That sounds like a deluxe ticket for a football game in Boston/New England!

Who came up with that name?

Historical Note: Tomorrow, August 1, 2026 is the 150th Anniversary of Colorado’s statehood. The “Centennial State,” Colorado became a state the same year the U.S.A. turned one hundred. With the U.S.A. now turning 250 this year, Colorado is observing our sesquicentennial. Planned celebrations are tasteful, without commemorative gimmicks or garishness.

I’m spending it in (old) England, though, where 150 years ago was practically yesterday!

Patriot Passport?”
Who came up with that name?

The alternative was "Trump Ticket"

I guess that’s better than “Vindictive Visa.”

My passport doesn’t expire till 2029. Surely they’ll be out of these. At least that’s my prayer.

In 2029 there might be another new Passport design, with gaudy gold medallions all over every page.

Or an optional one with a special blue coating, but be careful that the material doesn’t rip - you don’t want to get in trouble for damaging Government property.

I eschew all these things including vanity and commemorative licence tags. Regardless which party is in power I don't care to contribute more than the minimum to government.
