As of today, Ukraine has closed its borders to foreigners until Sept. 28. Certain categories of travelers are still allowed in, for example diplomats, but no tourists. Like many other countries Ukraine is seeing a rise in cases of COVID.
And Hungary just did the same.....
So this protects them from foreigners, and also foreigners from their citizens. Hopefully this step works for everybody, as part of an overall, measurable improvement. Stay well in the meantime!
Oh no James. What does that mean for your trip.
Barbara,
I always knew there could be risk. I booked round trip to Istanbul then was relying on another ticket (as of yet un-purchased) for the connection to Budapest. Instead of 3 countries I am down to 2 and that works just fine. Means more fishing time in the Alps...... Cant complain about that. Actually the most exciting part of the trip for me. I got to send you pictures of this hotel I found. It's freaking amazing.....
What is interesting is that they are going forward with the annual Wine Festival in a few weeks. Thousands of people up on the Castle Hill. That gave me hope that the Christmas Markets might open ... but I doubt it. Huchen run in the winter so I have a plan B for that too.
I am happy that you will be able to salvage your trip. It actually sounds pretty interesting. Definitely “off the beaten path”. We will probably have to wait for the vaccine before we get to Croatia. Hoping to do some domestic travel soon. Can’t wait for your trip report and hotel review.
Yes, i just saw them a few minutes ago. Amazing and the food looks outregous. Will show my husband tomorrow, after all the driving he was beat. This one also looks fabulous, so many little towns in that area you can settle into for a week or two. Enjoy.
