I just read the article, https://dailypassport.com/uber-preferred-currency-pricing-how-to-turn-off/ and am passing it along on the Forum.
According to the article, when using Uber in the US, Canada and Europe, there is a relatively new option of using "Preferred Currency Pricing" which will add a 1.5% charge to your credit card with Uber. Users are enrolled in this option automatically (which I was when I just checked, so how is that an "option"?). Within the article, the suggestion is "Go to your Wallet. . . in the Uber app, and choose “No preferred currency” to always pay in the local currency on your Uber rides."
Thank you very much!!
Thanks for this heads up.
Thanks for posting this. I just returned from Australia and used Ubers. I checked my account and mine was already set to “No preferred currency” to always pay the local currency.
Thanks, Lindy! I just changed this setting for my account and my husband's account.
I have looked before and just looked again. But I don’t have that option anywhere ( that I can find). I wonder if it’s because my default payment is Apple Pay.

Go to the app. At the bottom of the home page you'll see it says "account." Click on that. On the page it takes you to, there will be a section called "wallet." Click on that. Then scroll down to the "preferred payment method."
