Tuscany in March

My wife and I will be in Italy for 2.5 weeks next month. We will be staying in Venice for 4 days then we were thinking of heading to Florence and stay for 5 days - we are renting a car so we can take day trips. Should we stay somewhere in Tuscany ? I know it is going to be a bit chilly so is it worth staying in Tuscany ? or should be just drive thru and enjoy the country side ?

Most definitely, yes. We've stayed in Tuscany twice in March and loved the lack of crowds and beautiful weather. You'll just have to be prepared for cool to cold nights, but warmish days. We used the fireplace every night at the agriturismo we stayed at to take the chill off our room. Layer your clothing so you can stay comfortable as the temperatures warm during the day. (And a little grappa sure helps to warm you right down to your toes! :) )

I agree that you should spend some time in Tuscany even though it might be chilly! A smaller city like Montepulciano might be a cozy destination if it's not out of your way to go there.
