Turkish Airlines - question

Hi All, I am thinking of taking the Best of Turkey in 13 days tour this Spring and have been looking into airfare. Can those of you who have flow Turkish Airlines if it is worth the extra money to upgrade to their equivalent of Economy Plus for the extra leg room? I usually don't mind spending the extra money on US airlines but the upgrade price for TA seems a bit more steep. I was wondering if the economy seats with this airline give any more leg-room than we are accustomed to in the US? Appreciate your help.

Lisa, I have NOT flown Turkish yet, but I have researched them a lot. Everything I've read says their economy plus seats are GREAT - equivalent to a lot of Business Class seats. In fact, I believe that's exactly what they are - business class seats removed from another airline - perhaps "pre-owned" but nothing like the "Economy Plus" seats you will find on US domestic airlines (which are usually basically the same seats as regular coach, with maybe a couple extra inches of legroom and free drinks). Only you can say if it's worth it, but I've only heard very good things about these seats. If I were you I would go check out seatguru.com and get the details on seat dimensions for your potential flight, and read reviews of the seats posted there. FWIW, Turkish gets a LOT of good reviews - they are actually (by some measures) the world's biggest airline, and it's pretty obvious they are trying hard. They're not perfect (I see an occasional complaint) but seem quite good, and I am looking forward flying on them. Good luck.

I did not upgrade (it was a short flight however) and was comfortable (which I am NOT on most airlines.) Their service was also exceptional.

You might want to check on seatguru. Information about seating on all major airlines and aircraft.

I'm short (5 ft 4 in) so I'm not sure if it's worth upgrading, but I would say that I love that airline. I preorder a vegetarian (i.e. special) meal and Turkish Air is excellent, both on meals and service. The seat seemed just fine and I had room to spread my legs.

I am 6' and and fit comfortably in the economy section of TA. We have flown them on 7 different flights to/from the U.S and connections to the EU to CDG and MXP; love there pricing, food, entertainment options, and seat/space. Only better in my experience is Emeriates whose economy seats and space are pretty close to U.S. carriers' first class domestic cabins. International config has been 2-4-2 on our flights.

I had enjoyed Turkish airlines offers on my holiday trip with my wife to London with exclusive air tickets booking. It was easy and quick to book a flight ticket as well as return ticket. We are glad to know that services and support were excellent and it was well recommend.

My latest experience with them was 2014 summer - flew TK between Houston and Tashkent and on the return, Bishkek - Houston. I've also flown them in the past either in Europe or within Turkey/N. Cyprus. I've always found their seats (economy) to be comfortable - similar to most other airlines. Their entertainment system is par for the course - definitely not as great as Singapore or Emirates. The service is ok - but again, better than the American airlines. Where they stand out is the food. I find their food servings to be really good and tasty, even on fairly short flights.

Overall, I would fly them anytime over any of the American and European carriers.

I flew Turkish a year and a half ago, into San Francisco and back from Chicago, in economy, and I thought the seats were a bit roomier than other airlines on trans-Atlantic flights.

PS - the Best of Turkey tour is great! Be sure to spend more time in Istanbul before/after the tour.
