Tulip displays

We went to the Netherlands a few years back and had a great time at Keukenhof, the flower auction and just viewing the Tulip fields. We are going back this year and wonder if anyone could give us ideas where to go for more flower viewing. We will be staying in the Ramstein Germany area and don't want to travel at great lengths. Thanks for any advice! Be there from end of March to end of May.

To see mass displays of tulips I think you’d have to travel 5 hours back to the Leiden/ Lisse area of Holland. We spent 3 weeks in Holland last spring and didn’t encounter anything as prolific as that concentrated growing area.

Many public/botanical gardens closer to you may have some beds of bulb flowers blooming in March-May. Most cities like Heidelberg, Mainz, Strasbourg, etc within an hours drive from you will have organized gardens. A few years ago Koblenz was the host of the Bundesgartenshau and they may still have some wonderful planted displays along their Rhine promenade.

Also search for abbeys/monasteries and palaces in your area, they will have beautiful flower beds.
