Trip with Grandma (Oma) in March

Hi everyone,

My parents and I would like to celebrate my Grandmother's birthday with her in March. She lives in Germany, near Stuttgart, while my parents and I live in the US. We'd most likely spend some time with her in the area where my parents grew up, but then want to take her on a small trip (3-5 days). We'd be driving and would like to stay within 4 hours of Stuttgart.

Oma is in her early 80s, and while she is still in good shape for her age, she struggles with walking longer distances. We are imagining a trip to a place with museums, cute cafes and restaurants, easy walking trails, and a historic downtown.

Some of the places we've already been to: Konstanz, Heidelberg, Freiburg, Munich, Lucerne (Switzerland), Colmar and Strasbourg (France), and Innsbruck (Austria).

I started brainstorming and have picked out Luxembourg and Frankfurt as options. I welcome any other suggestions or feedback! Thank you!

Does your grandmother have any special interests, a hobby or a bucket list wish?

Four hours drive gives you Bavaria, Frankonia, the Rhine, Pfalz, and Mosel wine areas, etc.

Munich is flat and easy to walk around. Nuremberg is mostly flat, although the castle is uphill. Neustadt is mostly flat. Frankfurt is easy to walk, as is Mainz. Nancy is good. Luxembourg might also be good.

If you go to Mainz/Frankfurt you could add a boat trip on the Rhine. That might be good. You have lots of choices.

Salzburg is an option if you have a 4 hour limit. Just a little farther is Vienna which 3-5 days would cover easily. Maybe there is a place Oma has never been, but always wanted to go. Ask her. HB Oma.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions! We talked with Oma and have decided to go with a different plan for this birthday celebration, but we will keep these in mind for future plans.
