Trip to Copenhagen and Stockholm

Hello! I'm working on planning a trip for two to depart Boston and go to Stockholm for 3-4 days and then Copenhagen for 3-4 days or vice-versa, getting between the two via the train (which I think will be the most convenient, but am open to being wrong). We are tentatively planning to travel in mid July of this year, looking at 7/11-7/20.

Looking for advice about which city to go to first, or does it not matter? I've looked at so many options that I am very confused now! Thanks in advance for any advice or tips.

I’d say it doesn’t really matter generally speaking. If you can book flights into one city and out of the other, check both options for pricing. Same for hotels, your flexibility could save money.

Are there any sights or activities you want to do that are day of the week dependent? Make a list of what’s open in which cities and see if that leads you to ordering them one way over the other.

Otherwise I think you’ll be fine in either direction. Perhaps a local would know if there are any special events in either city you may want to see, or avoid.

If you are very much in culture I would start with Copenhagen. If you want to visit both worth staying cities with other or no background / interest it does not matter.

I really don't think it matters which one you visit first. Any differences will be minor. The only reason I can think of is if you're going somewhere else in Europe after, or coming from somewhere else.

And you are correct about the train.

It doesn’t really matter which city you start in. I’d compare flight cost and departure times for both options to see if it makes a difference.

Thanks so much, everyone! We are flying into Stockholm and leaving out of Copenhagen because we can get a direct flight home. Appreciate all of your feedback!

Have fun! And don't wait too long with booking the train to Copenhagen.
