Hello and thanks in advance for your suggestions!
I'm planning a family trip for us and our 26/28 year old boys, December 29, 2026-Jan 10, 2027. We will begin a 2 week trip on Dec. 29th, 2026. We will be starting from Europe; northern Germany to be exact, on Dec 29th. I realize now this is confusing, apologies, so perhaps this helps:
Dec 15-Dec 28th, Germany (Berlin, Oldenburg)- this itinerary and most activities are set.
Dec 29-Jan 12, This is where I'm looking for ideas- working to plan a trip for our family of 4. The nearest airports will be Berlin or Bremen. I'd like to be somewhere somewhat dry and not freezing. I've wondered about southern Spain or Sicily but given the responses it seems that staying around Germany/Austria/Budapest might make more sense.
The family enjoys exploring new places, meeting people, relaxing, classical music, good food - not necessarily fancy- maybe one great night out, a food tour or cooking class, cool cars, thrifting clothes, animals (agri-tourism?), hiking (them)/ walking (me)/ biking or scooters (all), boating/sailing though this may not be the time of year, no skiing.
They may not appreciate museums as much as I do. We'll be in Europe for New Year's Eve.
Anyone have any great ideas? I'd like it to be memorable due to the ages and flexibility we have today and that we may not have in the near future (think jobs, partners, life logistics in general).
