Trip itinerary - thoughts?

Howdy,

Houston couple (wife's 37 and I'm 40) headed to Europe in July and thought I'd run our itinerary past everyone to get opinions and see if there are any glaring issues.

6/29 - 6/30 - depart Houston @ 4:30pm and arrive in Munich @ 9:50am (flights purchased). Then hop on a train and head to Graz, Austria

7/1 - 7/3 - Graz, Austria (Austrian Grand Prix)

7/4 - Graz to Rome (taking train from Graz to Vienna and then direct flight on Vueling (4:30pm) from Vienna to Rome - flight purchased

7/4 - 7/7 - Rome

7/8 - Rome to Florence (1.5 hr high speed train)

7/9 - 7/10 - Florence

7/11 - Florence to Cinque Terre (might stop in Modena and possibly even spend night there...not sure yet)

7/12 - 7/13 - Cinque Terre (trying to decide which town)

7/14 - Cinque Terre to Lake Como (probably Veranna?)

7/15 - 7/16 - Lake Como

7/17 - Lake Como to Bern, Switzerland

7/18 - 7/19 - Bern ( Tour de France leg) - we're trying to decide whether to stay in Bern two full days or to stay in Munich two full days

7/20 - Bern to Munich (might move this forward one day per note above)

7/21 - Munich

7/22 - 9:30am flight from Munich back to Houston - flights purchased

Critique away!

Thanks,
Brett

Only that Modena is quite a bit out of the way between Florence and the Cinque Terre. Something you want to see there?

Modena at less than 90mins by train from Florence is probably best done as a day trip from there, rather as a separate stopover.

Mrs EB makes me wonder how much people travel with and to what extent do they unpack at a destination.

This is my loose criteria ...
Trip of less than 2 weeks - average stay of 2+ nights per destination.
Trip of 2-4 weeks - average stay of 3+ nights per destination.
Trip of more than 4 weeks - average stay of 4+ nights per destination.

For 22 nights I think your pace is fine, after all it appears you like speed!!
