Travelling solo for first time

Hi,

I will be travelling to Germany during my spring break solo for the first time. I have been to Austria twice, however, it was a school trip. In Germany I will be taking day trips to Heidelberg, Koln, and a three day trip to Munchen. Not to mention a week in frankfurt with a cousin. Does anyone have tips about safety or just any kind of advice? It would be much appreciated!

Thanks

In all my travels to Europe I always feel safest in Germany. I'm not sure why and I don't know if it's backed up by statistics-just an overall impression. Having said that, I still do wear a money belt and take standard precautions. This video from Rick gives you the basics:

thanks for the informative movie. I literally have a belt with a zipper for cash as well as a pac safe bag that you wear under your shirt that can hold cash creditcards, passport eurail pass etc...

Jeff,

In the posted movie clip above, Rick mentions scams briefly. He goes into more detail in his ETBD book. Excerpts are also on this website, it shouldn't be too difficult to find them. If you can't find them, PM me, I'll help you look it up.

Those tidbits from Rick prepared me to immediately recognize and thwart thieves attempts on me three times during a two month trip in Europe.

Just read up and be aware of common scams, be aware of your surroundings at all times, take proper precautions, and you'll be fine.

And, don't forget to have good time.

Cheers,
Maggie
