We are going to London, Paris, and Barcelona in April, with a short lay over in Canada on the way home. My daughter is in a methadone treatment program, and has to take her meds with her, which is in liquid form. Trying to find out what is required to enter these countries with it. We went to St. Marrten a few years ago, and she had no problem, she had a doctor's note and a prescription with her. If anyone can give advice about this, I'd greatly appreciate. Thanks, Donna
Advice here does not count. Make sure you research what the rules are for each country. And that includes Canada. Contact either the consulates closest to you or immigration for each country.
This information should be on the website for each of the countries you are visiting and you also need to check with the airlines you will be using.
I have been researching for a couple of days now to no avail, may have to contact the consulates in NYC
Thank you so much Nancy, that was a huge help!! Very much appreciated!!
Fortunately most European countries are more enlightened than the US where entry to the country would likely be turned down if your methadone use is a result of opioid use treatment. As others have stated, a proper presecription and note from her doctor along with retaining the methadone in its orginal container is imperative.
I would also back up the physician note, and carry the meds in separate places. With such meds, a break in use is not good.
