Traveling with diabetic supplies

My husband was recently diagnosed with diabetes and we will be taking a 3 week trip to Ireland. This is our first time going through security with all the diabetic supplies: needles, insulin, freezer gel packs for insulin etc. We have secured a letter from his doctor but are looking for additional suggestions to make getting through security as easily as possible.

Take all supplies you will need with you on the plane. DO NOT put them in checked luggage. You would not want to deal with them getting lost. Medical supplies are allowed in carry-ons.

I agree with Toni, do NOT check your medical supplies, they belong in your carry-on. Have never had a problem with my needles and security in either the US or the EU. Just make sure you have the medical ID stuff from your doctor.
