You are a little behind the curve here. Start with tripadvisor.com for a list of all the things to see in Paris - there's a lot. Then stop at a library to get some kind of guidebook for Paris, read about the different options and decide which ones you want to see the most. Once you have your list, you can use Google maps to figure out where they are located and group them together, by location, so you can visit them efficiently. Finally, it's worth it to see how many sights are covered by the Paris Museum Pass. If the number is significant, pick a pass up at the Tourist Information center or one of the covered museums (one without a line).

Good luck

My personal top ten is a fairly predictable one, but Paris has so many interesting things to see and do that some online research is useful to discover what other surprises it may have for you. It really depends on how much time you have available.

Notre Dame
Eiffel Tower
Louvre
Musee d'Orsay
Pompidou Centre
Saint Chapelle
Arc de Triomphe
Jardins du Luxembourg
Sacre Couer & Montmartre
Versailles

Surely you must know why you're travelling to Paris and what you want to see otherwise why pick it over somewhere like Berlin, Prague, Madrid, Moscow etc?

I was in Warsaw recently and wanted to see a particular portrait exhibition, for me it was one of the main reasons to go there but my wife had no interest and neither would many other people. My recommendations for things to see in Warsaw would therefore be very subjective.

What do you want to see in Paris? Why do you want to visit?

Only a week to go and you haven't done any research on the city? I could list a couple of dozen different things, but without knowing your preferences, it might be wasting both our time.

I strongly suggest you head to a library or bookstore for a good travel guide on Paris. Rick's is very good. Not only does he describe many, many sights and things to do, his book tells you what you need to know about how to get around the city ( how to buy Transportation tickets/passes, how to use the metro/buses).

Between now and your departure for Paris next week, you really need to,invest in a good guide book and decide what interests you, not what a bunch of strangers on a website think worthwhile. I, for instance, like museums, cemeteries, architecture and good wine. What do you like?

Are you interested in Vermeer? There is a special exhibit at the Louvre right now but you need a special timed entrance ticket to see it.

My likes may be different than yours. I enjoy d'Orsay Museum, Orangerie Museum, Cluny Museum, Ste-Chapelle, Notre Dame, walk thru the Marais, walk thru some gardens, walk along the Seine, Napoleon's Tomb/Army Museum, Rodin Museum.

You'll need to do some research to see if you want to get a Paris Museum Pass to cover your entry at multiple museums and then figure out which days the museums are closed to work around that. Many museums close on Monday or Tuesday.

Your number of days in Paris plus your interests will dictate what you want to see more than what is of interest to others.

It depends what you like.

I would also add walking the Champs-Elysées to the Arche de Triomphe.

When I was there I walked from the Louvre to the Tuilleries Gardens to the Pont Alexandre III bridge. Reccomend that if you like walking.

Visit Montmarte neighborhood. There you can see Sacre Coeur and Moulin Rouge.

Regarding the above suggestion, do not walk up the Champs Élysées unless you are particularly keen on car dealerships and fast food restaurants. There is a nice big Monoprix, though.

Well , this could be worse - Several years ago , I encountered a cab driver in a local bookstore looking at travel guides . When I asked him if he needed help , he replied that he was looking for a book on Paris for his fare who was on her way to JFK .
