We have been to Italy the past two years, but it has been in June, and are thinking of going the last two weeks of August to the French Riviera, and Tuscany. We have heard that there are large crowds in France and Italy during that time, since Europeans are having their "holiday". Has anyone experienced this? Would love some feedback?
When does the weather begin to cool in both of those areas? How is the weather in early September? Thanks so much
If I had a choice I would opt for Sept. Still warm, still beautiful, but not as crowded. I have been there in August before and it was hot and crowded. Still loved it, and if that is the only time you can go, then do it. Otherwise, wait a few weeks.
Thanks so much for your reply. We are definitely flexible, so will start planning for Sept. Love the warm weather, and wanted to make sure we still had it in Sept.
Hi JoAnne in Nampa! We have been several times in September/October and really enjoy the still warm weather and slightly fewer crowds. But....some years it's actually been hot and other times it has rained like a monsoon! (The "monsoon" was actually an October trip.) This year our vacation is the first week in September to the first week in October so we're hoping to avoid the rain. Have a fantastic time planning your trip and actually going on it!
Thanks for the information, Kathy. Appreciate it. Will consider all the options.
Just FYI, the German holiday period is August through the second week in Sept, not just to the end of August. The kids are out of school then.
