Traveling to Cinque Terre in mid November: Advice needed

My girlfriend and I will be in Italy on business in early November and are considering adding the Cinque Terre to the itinerary around November 12-15. I know that this is definitely off-season. We have a few questions:
1. What will the weather likely be like around that time?
2. Does anyone have any other cautions for this time such as availability of accommodations and restaurants?
3.What about costs? Can we expect to see off-season rates on hotels?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Given so many better/safer choices (by safer I mean better weather odds) in Italy, mid-November is pushing your luck for the CT, unless you're desperate to see it.

You might get lucky with the weather but the odds are against it. To assess the weather odds for yourself, instead of depending on people here who will write in to let you know the weather was just fine when they were there in mid-November,

go here and input La Spezia and your dates

to get the last 10 to 15 years of weather on your dates neatly summarized for you, so you can decide for yourself.

Weather would be less of a factor if there were other things to do in the CT, but there are not. In Rome or Florence, if the weather isn't cooperating there are other things to do--not so in the CT.

My only advice is to take Kent's advice to heart: and skip CT in November.

On a positive note, I suggest that you go and enjoy the area without the crowds. Sure, the weather will be "iffy" at best and many places will be closed- make it all part of the adventure.

We have been there in early November and the temps were pleasant- wear a jacket or coat and enjoy yourself.

I wouldn't, but you could always play it by ear once you get there. If you do get lucky and have a forecast for dry weather, you could just call ahead to a hotel then head there (you should check to make sure hotels and restaurants are open in Nov. first). Have a plan B--book a hotel that you can cancel with 24 hours notice somewhere else you'd like to visit. Remember, though, the days are very short then, and there's nothing indoor to do in the CT. It's all about hiking, swimming and sitting on the beach/rocks. It's really a better time for Rome, Florence, etc.
