My wife and I (early 60's) could use some help in developing an itinerary for a central Europe trip next April lasting 12-14 days. My wife wears a prosthesis but gets around quite well, but we will not be mountain climbing, etc. I have listed three ideas and we are open to any suggestions. Idea #1: Fly into Lyon, France, travel to Switzerland, Black Forest area, thenfle back from Munich. Idea #2:Fly to Munich, travel to Salzburg, Ljubljana, Trieste,Dolomiti area, fly back from Munich.
Idea #3:Fly to Lyon, travel to Province area, then to Barcelona. Thanks for your help.
Steve... any of those itineraries sound wonderful, but it would help if you give a bit more info. Have you been to Europe before? What are your favorite things to do? I am going to assume since you listed not only big cities you enjoy the countryside? They are all beautiful...toss a coin and have fun!
They all work but without a lot of addition information as to what YOU want to do or accomplish it is pointless for us to respond in other than very general ways. I vote for idea 1 because I like that area better than the other two. How about into Madrid and home from Malaga with stops in Seville, Cordoba, Granada? One of my favorite.
All three are nice, compact plans that are very doable in your time frame (something that too often cannot be said of other people's proposed itineraries). So there is little left to be said considering that we can't know what your likes and dislikes are no matter how much detail you provide. Only you can really know that. #2 sounds good to me if you intend to drive, since that allows you to pick up and drop off the car in the same country. Sit down with the spouse and make a list of the pros & cons.
That's about all I can suggest, except to point out that "Central Europe", while an ambiguous term at best, usually suggests countries like Poland, Czech, Hungary, etc. The only country on your list that even approaches that is Slovenia & Ljubljana.
