Hi all! We plan to visit our son studying in Brussels in April. From there we want to travel but we keep running into cities that close or are very crowded for Easter and EAster Monday. We'd like a place less attractive to the EAster crowds. Any suggestions? We are interested in Prague, Budapest, Vienna or Spain.
Thanks!
Try Greece. They usually celebrate Easter at a different time than western Europeans do.
Greece, hadn't thought of that, thanks for the suggestion!!
Prague gets mobbed with tourists around Easter. Most large European cities don't feel any more crowded than usual during the Easter holiday (although some of the top museums become packed). Prague is probably an exception because most tourists stay within a relatively small area of the city. Hence, it feels overrun.
Easter is a huge holiday in Greece. I would certainly check that out before making plans.
Stay away from southern Spain during Holy Week. It's unbearable and you can't guess if something will be open or not.
Thanks for the tips. As of right now I think we are going to start in Brussels over Good Friday, then Budapest over Easter and end up in Prague at the end of the week. I would be grateful for any pros or cons on this.Happy New Year!
