Traveling in Belgium in November

We want to go to Bruges at the late November. Weather says 2 hours of sunlight. We will be traveling on Viking Cruise from Amsterdam to Basel. Any thoughts on arriving a couple of days early or staying a couple of days later (12/1/2012) and tour Zurich

I think you might be reading something wrong. 2 hours of sunlight sounds a bit dire. Where did you read this? In November count on it being daylight from about 08:00-08:30 to 16:30 or so.

I've been to Bruges twice at the end of November. There is way more hours of sunlight than 2 hours. Bruges will be great that time of year, they have a cute Christmas market with skating rink, and plenty of hot muled wine and kriek to deal with the cool temps.

Maybe two hours of unobstructed sunshine, but way more than two hours of sunlight.

I've been to Brugges in early to mid-November and there is daylight from morning to about 430pm/5pm. It's a great time to travel there.

You probably already know there will be a strong likelihood of fog, rain, and pretty cool temps, but with a coat and umbrella, who cares? I've travelled that same time of year, and if the weather doesn't bother you, the advantage of having no tourists around is huge. Normally, I would suggest sticking to the big cities that time of year, but your river cruiser will be great and changes my opinion on that matter. Yeah, that two hours of daylight is weird...even in Reykjavik, they'll have something like 5 hours by 11/30. You're nowhere near that far north.

Been to Bruges in November and it was fine. Can get into rain but had no crowds. Also went the following year in August, rain and freezing cold. B&B had to turn the heat on.
