First thing is to get/buy a copy of Rick Steves'
"Europe thru the Back Door" book and read it. I have traveled over most of Europe and really did enjoy Spain/Portugal (I liked Portugal the best and both were cheaper that the rest of Europe) Happy Travels

Check out travel time limtations. Be certain about any visas you might need. It is wonderful that you have so much time. You want to be well planned, but not rigid. You need to be VERY informed. Not only read Rick's books, but watch some of his shows. I'd suggest you (at least to start) plan to spend large chunks of time in some "base" cities with day trips out. Then begin to branch out. You will want to prioritize what you want to "get out of" this trip. That will help you start to plan.

Just pay attention to any visa issues, as you'll be there for more than 90 days. Otherwise, you'll have so much time that you should be able to see it all.

This is really a unique situation, as most people who are on this message board haven't spent that much time in one shot traveling. Color me jealous, and have a great trip!

Hey all, Thanks for the info! I just got europe through the back door and have been studying it all day(at the expense of my teachers) and it has proven really helpful. I thought that you only needed visa's if you were staying in any one country for over a month.

James, since most of Europe unified into the Schengen counties which only process your passport as you enter the unified countries. Longer visas are available, but you would have arrange them in advance. I do think this might have been discussed somewhere on this site. Use the search regarding VISAs.
