Travel with Hearing Aids

Hello -- There don't seem to be any recent/open threads on this topic that I could find. I am traveling to Greece in a few week with my family, including father and aunt in mid-70s who wear hearings aids. My father is thinking of not bringing his, having heard somewhere (?) that charging them on European outlets, even with adapter, will fry them? I don't know what kind of hearing aids he has. Has anyone ever heard of this? Any tips on traveling with hearings aids? Obviously I think he should bring them. Thanks.

Well, I didn’t have any troubles with mine in England. My charging case comes with a cord that has a USB end. I simply put that end into the appropriate plug in USB receptacle for the country I am in and have no problems.

My husband and I have hearing aids and mine are rechargeable and his are battery. I have traveled several times with them to Europe and had no problems with charging. You will ned an adapter. Perhaps to see if the charger is like a cell phone that will use different voltages with no converter needed. We have Phillips brand hearing aids. Perhaps a call to the support line of his brand would be helpful. Definitely need good hearing on a trip to get maximum enjoyment. Good luck

Had no trouble this year in Chile or Amsterdam or Spain. I used an adapter- but for his peace of mind and just in case, you could pack a converter. Of course you will have some adaptors, which is all I needed.
I also have Phillips hearing aids from Costco. Good advice above is to check with Phillips customer service OR check the manual.

I am in France right now and have had no problem charging my Phillips hearing aids. I have an adapter/converter plug and leave the isb for the charger plugged in all the time. I just put my hearing aids in overnight, as I do at hoime, and I am set to go in the morning.
Reassure him that this 79 year old traveller hasn't fried her hdearing aids or her ears yet. (Been here since May 25, at four different places.)

Thanks, everyone. I really appreciate your advice. I think I have convinced him to at least bring them. :-)

Grace, I just got a pair of hearing aids specifically for "quality of travel". I will double check with my vendor about needing a converter but I doubt it.
