The first recommendation would be to get a realistic assessment of transit times. If you're taking trains, as I already mentioned, go to the websites of the various national rail companies (British Rail, SNCF in France, NMBS in Belgium, NS in the Netherlands, Eurostar for London to Paris, Thalys for links between Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam). If you're driving, go to Viamichelin.com for estimates of the driving times. Next, don't even try to see "all the VIP sites". You will never see everything. But you can make a list of your priorities, and given the limits of time and distance, see what you can fit. BTW, weren't you from Dallas when this thread began?

Suggestion #1: Do either Brussels OR Brugges OR Amsterdam in those 3 days, not all of them. You might be able to do Brussels and Brugges in that span of time.

You can't really be serious that you intend to all that you have listed for London in one day?! And where do you have time to work in Spain? It's a big place, with lots to see and do. It would be best saved for a different trip. You're going to be rushed enough as it is. (I'm pretty sure that you mean the Eiffel Tower, not the Tower of Pisa in Paris.) It also doesn't seem that you have factored in any travel time from one destination to another (July 2-4 Brussels Bruges Amsterdam, for example). Any time that you change location you are going to lose at least half of a day in just getting packed up and unpacked in the new place.

I am sorry but none of this makes any sense. Work in Spain latter part of trip??? The Tower of Pise is in Italy, not France and not on the the Paris to do list.

OK, I'm going to try to be nice... ah hell, but this is a joke, right? You can't be serious about trying to do all those things on 1 July? And Brussels, Bruges, Amsterdam in only three days? Why even bother? Go back to the drawing board. Unless you have aquired a teleporter, your plan is completely unworkable, and even with the teleporter, it would still be extremely rushed. I suggest you start by browsing around on the websites of the various national rail companies to see how much transit time would be involved between your various locations. Then, you might be able to get a more realistic idea of how much you can do with the time you have allotted.

Ok. We will scratch off the Spain leg.. We have not traveled much and do not want to leave off any VIP sites like Eiffel Tower. Please comment on the rest of the trip. Please offer any suggestions.....

You're right, Tom, it DID say Dallas at first, but has now been changed to Kansas. Hmmm.... And the question has been edited to include a question about teenagers (there wasn't one in the body of the question before) and to change the Tower of Pisa to the Eiffel Tower.

The UnspokenOne is using a batch of names and has started asking questions with one (not this one). Odd names, changing places.......

I'm confused. The question says 24th June; the header says 28th June. The question says north bound station for Newquay. Newquay is in Cornwall, to the southwest. North from where? The only reference to teenagers is the 4 word question. What sort of teenagers? What do they like?

Ok, I am done. Think this is a sucker question and we are someone's amusement. I will give my time to someone who has a serious question. Boat trip to Paris? Guess they flunked third grade geography.

Nigel, the four word question about teenagers didn't appear in the first version of this thread, only in the title. I think sil needs more help than we can offer here.

OK, Sil in Kansas First buy the Rick Steves, Europe through the Back Door and his Europe Book. That will help you tremendously (and us make good suggestions.) We are all confused. The way you have laid out the intinerary doesn't make sense. Please write each day you are going to be gone from the time you leave the US and add where you are and where you are going. For example, June 23 - leave US June 24 Arrive Heathrow, train to New Quay June 25 - New Quay June 26 - New Quay June 27 - New Quay to Train to London June 28 - London June 29 - London June 30 - London July 1 - London Note: so you are doing the sightseeing on all of the items you mentioned in these 4 1/2 days. Right? July 2 - London travel to ??? (how?) July 3 - ??? to ???? July 4 - Where? July 5 - ??? to Paris by Boat - I don't think so! Fast train to Paris. July 6 ETC> ETC. ETC. For estimating the time between destinations for a preliminary itinerary, you can use Rick Steves (RS) Europe Book. At the end of every city or destination, he tells you how and what length of time to get to another city. OR you can just Google "train time X to Y" and pick a site that looks credible and up to date. Add time to get to train station, waiting for train, train travel time & time to get to new hotel in your itinerary.

Also, why do you want to go to New Quay since that is far away from your other destinations? You could spend more time in the countryside outside of Paris if your kids have an interest in castles (Loire Valley) or WWII (Normandy), instead of going back to London. Or spend more time in Amsterdam, Bruges, and Brussels. OMG, you are leaving in 2 weeks! Do you have any accommodations? Are there 4 of you? 2 rooms or 4 in a room? Hope 2 rooms as quads are hard to come by in Europe especially in high season. Keep us iinformed as long as you let us know each day of your current itinerary. Then the posters can give you better info Bobbie.
