Travel Tuesday

I am looking to book air for my trip to Paris in the Spring.

Have been doing my research and have found good flights with both Delta and American. I like Delta times better although it is slightly more money..

I have put off booking because I want to check tomorrow which is Travel Tuesday, just in case cost is slightly reduced. .Whatever, my plans are to book tomorrow,

Anyone else hoping to get a good deal or any deal on Travel Tuesday?

That's exciting!
Br careful to purchase directly from the airline.
I most often fly Delta.
A factor to keep in mind is that any flight times can- and in my experience - often change, when booking months ahead. When I receive the dreaded email from Delta with a schedule change, sometimes it's by only 5 minutes but also sometimes it's been hours.
Another example: last year I booked a more expensive Lufthansa flight through Amsterdam (from France) for my return flight to the US. It was supposed to depart at 10:00 am, vs the 6 am of my two cheaper options. You can guess what happened! Yup- the flight I chose with the best time was moved back 4 hours...and other times the schedule change was minimal but the aircraft changed (rendering my extra $ chosen seat to be not where I expected).
So I've learned- book if you think it's a reasonable fare, but don't assume the times (or aircraft) are guaranteed and now I check the plane model, too, a couple weeks before departure.
Good luck!

Bon Voyage

I have learned the hard way what you have just said.

Last trip was flying to Tokyo and home from S Korea.

Was very happy with my flight and then American cancelled the one to Tokyo and put me on a very bad one. I needed to reschedule and guess what happened to me. I googled aa.com and got a fraudster site. I rebooked with a crook and the end result was I got bilked out of $759 but was able to recover $450.00.

I have also had flights changed by a very short period of time and that has not been a problem.

Once the time was the exact same but the day had changed, I had to add on a day to my trip which was not a problem. Cost me more but was glad for the extra day in London. For some people, that would have been a problem

I assume that there will be changes now. Always hoping it will not be too disruptive.

And like you, I hate getting the dreaded notification. I open it with a sinking stomach.

Honestly I have never heard of Travel Tuesday. My airline of choice is usually Delta because of the airport I fly from. I just received an email from them advertising Cyber Monday flight deals. You might check what fares are available today.

Bostonphil - you could put a reservation on hold today, Monday, Dec. 1st, for 24 hours. Then check tomorrow to see if the same itinerary is less on "Travel Tuesday" and if so, make a new reservation. If not, then go ahead and purchase the reservation that you made today. Good luck!

I think Travel Tuesday is relatively new. I first heard about it last year or maybe the year before. Today is also Giving Tuesday.

Supposedly there are some deals to be had in the travel world. Some persons have said they got a good deal on Travel Tuesday.

I am going to book air today no matter what.

I checked yesterday, at night, and it was the same as the day or two before. No deals. Today is the day. Feel like I need to make a choice.

Yesterday, was unable to check until late at night. No deals. Going to check today but also going to book air today. Cost of air has been reasonable all along.

Travel Tuesday is a real thing. I just booked two, RT, Main cabin fares Seattle to LA (SEA/SNA/LAX/SEA) for next month on Alaska for $177.50 a piece/$355 total. They also have a BOGO on flights to Japan and Korea.

Thank you JenS

I think there are some deals on select flights.

I just booked Austin to Paris RT on Delta. Got a good price but do not feel that I got a Travel Tuesday deal.

Taking advantage of the Travel Tuesday , I booked today for a departure at the end of May SFO to Paris r/t on United in Basic Economy. The price was much better than expected. It also depends your return date.

Amtrak has "deals" dep. on Tues starting this month.

Fred

I am glad that you and others got a good deal on Travel Tuesday.

I heard that it was gimmicky when it first began but it is now more serious.

@ bostonphi7......That good deal on the flight is $1130 r/t SFO to Paris CDG for 9 full weeks, ie, much more preferable since I had expected to pay an additional two to three hundred.
