Since we are use AA miles we can fly into either Rome or Milan. Don't plan on staying in Milan or Rome as we have visited them prior. Any recommendations as to which airport is better between Milan or Rome? Also plan a jaunt over to Barcelona or Madrid after a week in Tuscany.
Train or Flying....... Thanks Rich
Richard, It would help to have some idea on which part of Tuscany you plan to visit? Given the criteria you mentioned, Rome would probably have a greater variety of flight options but either city would be good for getting to Tuscany. For travel from Rome to Barcelona or Madrid, using budget flights would be the best option IMO, as it's a long train ride from Tuscany to either city in Spain. For example, the shortest trip I could find from Florence to Barcelona was 17H:09M, with two changes. In contrast, using a flight from Florence to Barcelona with Meridiana Fly has a flight time of 1H:35M (I only checked that one route, and of course schedules are subject to change). I assume you're planning to use open-jaw flights, inbound Italy and outbound Spain? Cheers!
