travel to Paris-Amsterdam-Prague-Budapest for 14 days

Hi!

I am planning my first trip to Europe (either in August second week or October first two weeks). Please help me make a good itinerary!

I fly in from New Delhi, India. Following are my queries-
1)what should be the first country to start from (fly into) and country to fly out from
2) best view wise yet economical way to commute within the countries- rail, bus, flight etc
3) what is the best season
4) paris & amsterdam i have to do. But should i knock off prague Or budapest for something more worthwhile?
5) we've always done beach locations before this but would love a mix of adventure, sightseeing, great food and relaxation. How many days should I spend in each country
6) keeping the above taste in mind what are the things to cover in each of these?

I am planning an overseas trip for the first time and i want to make this a good one for my husband (coz he is giving in to my demand to do Europe now :P)

Thanks!

I thought about doing this exact same itinerary so I'll be eagerly awaiting others replies.

We ultimately decided to do Paris -> Bruges -> Amsterdam -> Berlin however, primarily because of the long train ride from Amsterdam to Prague (that and my girlfriend likes big cities). I think it might be 8 hours or so, I can't remember. This looks like a good trip to me though.

If you truly have 14 days on the ground in Europe (not including flight days), then you could do all 4 of these destinations. Of course you won't have time for in-depth exploration of any of them but a good overview. Fly into one of your eastern destinations (Budapest or Prague) and home from the west (Paris or Ams), or the other way around depending on which works best with your flight options.

Budapest - 4 nights; Prague - 3 nights; Amsterdam - 3 nights; Paris - 4 nights (or the other way around)

Train between Amsterdam and Paris and between Budapest and Prague, fly between the east and west.

If your 14 days includes flight days (12 days on the ground), then drop one of your destinations or concentrate on either the west, Paris, Amsterdam, and one other location closer - maybe Belgium or London. Or concentrate on the east, Budapest, Prague, and one other locations closer - maybe Vienna.

When choosing your destinations, take the travelling time between them into account. Budapest to Prague and Prague to Amsterdam or Paris each take the best part of a day. I second the advise to limit yourself to three destinations. Prague-Vienna-Budapest (or the other way around) would make a wonderful trip, with little time lost on travelling. The same is for Paris-Belgium-Amsterdam.

Great cites, but a minimum amount of time to do them real justice. Paris and Amsterdam are your only 2 gateway airports.

Day
1. Fly in to Amsterdam (3 nights)
4. Fly to Budapest (4 nights)
8. Train to Prague (3 nights)
11. Fly to Paris (4 nights)
15. Depart Paris

However, I would lean against 2 internal European flights within a 2 week trip.

You really have 2 'easier trips of 2 weeks each.

1) Amsterdam (4) > Belgium (4) > Paris (6)
OR
2) Budapest (5) > Prague (4) > Berlin (5)
