Travel to Malta

Dear Steve, I enjoy watching all your travel shows however I do not understand why your shows and others like it never show the beautifull island of Malta. You claim travels in Europe yet you showed Israel and Egypt but never Europe's Malta. Do you intent to show Malta?

I seem to recall Rick saying he had never been to Malta. It was the second continental holiday we had, after our honeymoon in Gibraltar. Loved Malta and returned a few years ago for a short trip. Still a great place to visit.

With a group of friends I spent 2 weeks in Malta about 5 years ago. It was in late February/early March and the weather was mild to warm, with a couple of drizzly days but no real rain to dampen our spirits. The Maltese are an independent breed and will not overwhelm you with friendliness, but, hey, we were all Canadians so that sat right with us.

We were able to see everything by using the bus system, which I think has changed since we were there, in that there used to be special routes for the tourists, and for about $8.00 a day we toured all over the island. One day we took a day trip to Sicily and up to Mount Etna.

For a different type of vacation, yes, I would recommend Malta but in retrospect perhaps two weeks is too long . . . 7 to 10 days would be perfect.

I must disagree (with all due respect) to the post before this about the Maltese people not being the freindliest.

Apart from Malta being a great destination for especially english speaking people it is also one of the most beautiful and adventures countries in the meditaerannean.

A special mention to the citizens of the place as each and everyone was very friendly.

I went there last year in June (hgh season) with 5 friends and had the good fortune of enjoying the best weather Malta has to offer. We basically spent 3 days just sailing, swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing around the 3 isalnds in Malta. We hired a first class luxury sailing boat inclusive of everything (yes- Skipper too!), through an excellent online tours and activites company who seem to be experts on malta tours.

This pre-booking was especially inmportant as we went during high season time and had very little time actually in Malta. It was a good thing we made all arrangements through this co, earlier itself as their service was simply superb!
