Travel to amsterdam, paris and barcelona

I would like to plan a trip to Europe with our 15 year old daughter to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday to the above cities in late June. We have 14 days, so I thought 2 days in Amsterdam, 4 days in Paris, and 4 days in Barcelona. Is this doable? I was planning on train transportation between cities. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

Your numbers don't add up..2+4+4... what about other 4 days? i think you need to remember that 2 nights in a place only equals one full day...i would add another night tò amsterdam( so you have two full days there)

It looks ver doable , fly into amsterdam, , train to paris, fly to barcelona , then home from there so no backtracking. Actually i would reverse that order, start south( warmer weather) and head north.

Thanks for answering and letting me know that would work! That was my fault on the timeline. I should have said those were approximate days for each city, not including the days we would fly in and out. This will be our first European vacation, and whereas I would like it planned out, I don't want to over extend ourselves and try and cram in more cities than feasible, so we are spending more time in airports and train stations than having a good time.

If you are travelling from North America then you only lose one night travelling if taking regular flights, so perhaps 12 nights on the ground in Europe....Barcelona (4 nts) >> Paris (5 nts) >> Amsterdam (3 nights).
It is a toss up for Barcelona to Paris with high speed trains now being a fair alternative to flying.

Yay !! Happy 2500 posts for me. Alas, no streamers, or whistles, or balloons. (sad face)

Paris to Barcelona by TGV.....definitely. Much more relaxing.

Paris to Barcelona is about six and a half hours by train, which is on the borderline for most people as to whether it's worth flying or not. I would compare times and fares to decide which is better.

Check out seat61.com and rome2rio.com for travel connections between cities. I would also consider spending at least two nights in a small town to get a break from the busy cities. Someplace like Bruges in Belgium would work well for this.

Definitely look at flying into Barcelona and out of Amsterdam or Paris, or something like that. This will save you a day of travel over a roundtrip ticket.

I like the allocation. I'd probably choose the train over a flight to Barcelona. When you compare time and cost, take into account the extra time and expense to get to/from the airport, time needed at the airport for check-in and security, maybe waiting for luggage on landing. Baggage limits are generally low on those flights and there are lots of extra costs when you book flights - make sure you know all the charges. I find it more comfortable to be on a train for a longish ride that to go through all the unpleasantness of flying - large, boring airports, security procedures, uncomfortable planes. Pack a picnic and relax on the train unless a flight saves you significant time and money. Both train and plane tickets will get more expensive the longer you wait to purchase.

Have a great time! Nothing quite as exciting as the first time - I mean they are all exciting but the first time is just magical!
