We shall be driving from Bayeux in Normandy to Borrstadt, Germany (which is approx. 1 hour south of Frankfurt) to visit our daughter and her family next month. The drive is 8+ hours, so we plan to take two days to drive there. Does anyone have suggestions for a good half-way point that would provide some worthwhile touring along the way?
It's a pretty straight forward approx. 8 hours drive, almost all on freeways from Bayeux via Paris and Reims, Metz, Saarbrücken to Börrstadt. Personally I really like the Champagne region and Reims seems to be almost at half way. You could consider staying over in Reims, Épernay or Châlons-en-Champagne.
The area is quite unlike the Normandy, it's almost a little bit like Tuscany. There are plenty of winegrowers (champagne growers to be precise) and you can visit all the big brand Champgane makers.
Day 1 Morning stop in Rouen, Lunch in Amiens, Sleep in Reims
Day 2 Morning cellar visit then continue to Borrstadt
