My Mother had back surgery in October to repair several severely protruding disks. We are looking at hitting the European roads again, late this September (almost 1 year after her operation). We're hoping to find suggestions or ideas of what kind of day bag would be best for her to carry. She normally uses a messenger, because we've read that those are safer bags to prevent theft. However, she is thinking a security back pack would be better? Does anyone have experience and ideas on this topic?? Thanks!
Hi Suzanne. Your mom might ask her doctor for advice about bags, not only for comfort but to prevent any potential problems. My sister had spinal fusion surgery for scoliosis in mid-March and has found that a purse like this: http://www.walkwear.org/sale/sale-accessories/healthy-back-bag.html#.UYPwPcr2T1U is much easier to carry than her regular over-the-shoulder purse. These bags are supposed to distribute weight over the body.
