Travel Partner Question

Has anyone had experience, good or bad, using the R/S travel parnter website? Considering using it to post for a roomie for a R/S tour for GAS in Sept. I am already booked as a single which leaves me open for an assigned room mate. Had hoped to get a travel partner that I know but everyone is out of work or broke that I considered. I am laid off as well but still plan to go as I have already put this trip off from 2008.

Well, I've only gone on one RS tour (with hubby) but there were two people doing the R/S travel partner thing and it seemed to work out well. They were two very different people background/education wise who had a great time. Thing is we tend to gravitate to those like ourselves out of a comfort zone kinda thing. Some of the more popular tours in Europe I understand have enough people choosing this option that you change roommates frequently (which is good if someone snores or whatever). RS tour people seem to be, in general, an accommodating bunch (as long as you are not late for the bus!)

On my first tour, there were three single women. We alternated sharing a room with each other. Every third stop, we got an individual room. Worked great. One of the women became a dear friend and we took a second tour to GAS. If you are the only single person, you get a room to yourself which happened to one of the tour members. I wouldn't worry about it. The tours are great and you'll love GAS.

TC, this is not exactly an answer to your question as I haven't used the partner site, but I would strongly suggest you don't worry about it.

On my first RS tour I had a random roommate assigned to me, and she was fantastic, as was everyone else on the tour. We still correspond a year later. Go, pack earplugs just in case you get a snorer, and have a good time!

TC, on a tour your roomate isn't really an issue. You'll be using the room to change, shower, and sleep. As long as you bring earplugs, who the other person is shouldn't really make that much difference.

TC, what are the dates of your GAS tour? I sigend up for Sep 6-19 tour and chose the single supplement, but would definitely like to save those extra dollars if you need a roommate. PM me if you are interested.

I took the chance as I didn`t want to fork out the single supplement on a two week trip. My room-mate and I giggled the whole time. Our travel companions remarked that the last thing they heard at night and the first thing they heard in the morning was us laughing. Go for it.
