Travel Insurance for our European Trip

Hello,

We are toying with the idea of purchasing "cancel for any reason" travel insurance for the first time for our upcoming European adventure, as there are a few uncertainties that make us want the option to cancel at the last second. However, it looks like most of the policies I can find still require you to cancel at least 48 hours out. I'm confused, since I thought the whole point was to cover you if something comes up and you can't go at the last second. Is anybody aware of travel insurance policies that let you cancel for any reason up until the day of departure? Thanks!

have you done any research thru "insuremytrip"? We did lots of looking via that web site before we purchased out first trip insurance policy many years ago. Lots of good connections.

Have you booked any part of your trip yet? The policies I've seen with that option require you to purchase the insure within a short time of your first expense. I think generally 7 days. I don't think they cover expenses that you can get a credit, such as airline tickets.

The article drives home the point that in any insurance policy the terms of the policy is what the insurance company says they are and NOT what you think they should say or cover. The insurance company sets the terms and the limit. So reading and understand the fine print of the policy is critical. As you are finding out, "cancel for any reason" has different meaning for different people at different times.
