There are several options out there. Some universities purchase or recommend MedEx for their students and faculty on travel-abroad programs. It is supposed to offer more complete coverage, and maybe higher cost, than some of the others. So you still need to shop around. The Medex link is http://www.medexassist.com/

I use www.imglobal.com when I go to the EU; they are pretty reasonable, and, fortunately, I never had to use them.
