Travel from Seefeld to Munich

We are traveling (party of 3) from Seefeld to Munich hbf on a Sunday (early afternoon travel) during Oktoberfest.
My questions are:

  1. What is the best form of travel? Train or Flixbus? When do we book this travel?

  2. We booked a hotel in Ismaning. Do we continue traveling to the hotel and drop off luggage before going back the city of Munich to see the sights or is there a place to lock our backpacks in Munich?

Thank you in advance

Take the train. You do not have to book it as it is all local regional trains. There is construction on the section between Mittenwald and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, but you just transfer to the replacement bus for that section. The ticket is called a Regio-Ticket Werdenfels Plus Innsbruck. Cost for 3 people is 58.50 EUR total. You can just continue on to Ismaning by transferring to the S-8 at Munich-Pasing. included in the ticket. A lot easier than transferring at the Hbf. I'd go to Ismaning first and drop your bags there. It is only 22 minutes back to central Munich (Marienplatz) on the S-Bahn.

The Regio-Ticket Werdenfels plus Innsbruck is good for the whole day until 3 am Monday. So you just go to Ismaning, drop your bags, go back to Munich, tour the city and return to Ismaning on one ticket. It is as easy as that.
