Travel from London to Bath, Oxford, York,

Hello!!

We will be in London for a few days and would like to venture off for a couple of days to visit Bath, oxford or Cambridge, York before returning back to London.

Researching taking the train to Bath first but not sure if visiting oxford, Cambridge, Avebury & York are possible in 2 days. Thinking of spending the night in bath.

Has anyone experienced a similar itinerary?? Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you

Way too much to do in two days. You'd spend all your time trekking to and from train stations, storing and retrieving luggage, and sitting on trains. Or buses; I don't think Avebury has rail service.

I think most people would agree that York is a 2-day destination by itself. I believe 2 days is right for Oxford or Cambridge, but I know many folks think one day is enough.

No it is not possible. My recommendation would be to send those 2 days in either Bath or York. Both are wonderful cities and both are easily accessible from London.

Check timetables for trains to Bath, esp. on a weekend. Some work on the line is currently requiring bus substitution from Reading onwards, meaning a slower journey than usual.

On June 23 we purchased train tickets to travel from Bath to London but were put on a bus for the first half of the trip due to work on the rail line. I do believe that this occurs only on the weekends but check to be sure. If I had know at the time of purchasing the train tickets that half of the journey was going to be on a bus I would have purchased a bus ticket for the entire journey at half the cost of the train ticket. I did ask for a partial refund upon arriving in London but was told no way.
