I will travel from Interlaken OST to Milano Centrale this coming June 10. My first question is , I am planning to use Swiss saver pass and would like to find out how to buy the additional ticket from Domodossola to Milano centrale (since the pass will cover until Domodossola if I am not mistaken). Can I buy the additonal ticket not covered by the saver pass in Interlaken OST(point of Departure)? by showing the pass and pay the difference. Secondly, Can I make reservation thru Rick steve's store as well besides buying the ticket pass from there since basically I already know my schedule and I am afraid that I would not get the seat together with my wife and son.
I checked that my train from Spiez (Eurocity) will require compulsory reservation. Third, can I buy the additional ticket to Milan not covered by the pass saver at Rick Steve's store as well?).....how much would that be for the reservation fee? Your suggestion would be highly appreciate it.
Rick's store sells rail passes but not tickets or reservations. I would just make the reservations for the IC train a few days ahead, when you get to Switzerland. The ticket agent can sell you a ticket from Domodossola on to Milan, in the same seats.
Did this trip in 2007. We just bought our train tickets for the Italian portion from either the Interlaken station or Brienz station, just a few days before. We had a swiss pass as well. Just tell the station agent where you want to go and show him/her your swiss saver pass and you will be charged for only the Italian portion of your travel.
