My trip to Europe was perfect due to the help I received on this forum. Now I am looking for a helpline or forum for my next adventure to Africa. Can anyone recommend one?
cheri, Your best bet is the Lonely Planet Thorn Tree forum. It's similar to the HelpLine, although not always as "polite". There's a very well travelled group there, and you should be able to find the information you need. Cheers!
I use the forums on fodors.com when I want additional information on Europe or on places that aren't covered here.
Which country? What kind of animals? How long? What cost? Give us a little to work with.
Thanks everyone for the quick responses. I just posted my first question on Fodor's forum. Will get on Lonely Planet next. Ed and Ken, you both answered many of my questions last year, a big thanks.

Cheri, I also found the Tripadvisor forum extremely helpful when I was planning a return trip to Kenya.
The giant in African safari's is VacationstoGo.com. The owner of this big cruise travel agency owns some of the premier luxury hotels anywherein Africa. Sign into the above website and you can see how to sign into his Africa website.
Highly recommend Africa Adventure Company (based in Florida.) We had a great experience with them in Tanzania, Zimbabwe and S. Africa. They are willing to work with a wide range of budgets. Only one data point, but we liked them!
Hi, my husband and I just got back on Friday nite from Tanzania,Serengeti tents and lodges with Overseas adventure Travel. 17 days of adventure! Great experience and a small group. We saw every animal you can imagine. We also visited a school and several Masai Villages. Quite a learning experience. They took very good care of us and the group was excellent! Not as expensive as many other safaris we looked at. Also did the Serengeti balloon ride, it was out of this world! Hope this helps!
If you really want to see real Africa, then think about visiting Ghana. It is English speaking, safe, exceptionally friendly, historical and set up for tourists. Having lived and traveled around Africa for 7 years, I say this with confidence. Safaris are nice, but a lot of what is billed as "real" (such as the villages) in East Africa really isn't. This tour company is highly regarded: http://easytrackghana.com/index.php Have a great time, wherever you go.
