Travel clothing

You'll do better going to the nearest mall. Stores like JC Penney and Macy's have a wide variety of good travel clothes, they just aren't sold that way.

Shop for clothes you like with an eye toward the material and care instructions.

I buy permanent press, no cotton for traveling. I don't buy dry clean only fabrics. I buy acrylic, washable silk, washable wool, rayon, polyester, nylon, microfier or some blend of those types of fabrics.

Many department store items are perfect. You'll get more variety, be able to try clothes on and probably save a lot because they have regular sales and I find the non-cotton blends regularly make it to the clearance racks.

Buying travel clothes online is expensive and you don't know how they fit/feel until they arrive.

Travelsmith has nice things, and you can definitely find the staples there -- though they are kind of pricey - should last a long time. J. Jill has stylish slacks and skirts that are good for travel -- though perhaps not too lightweight.

You must go to Chico's if you have one in the area. They have tons of "travel" clothes, and they all mix and match. I bought a pair of black capris, black pants, black skirt, and then added bright, fun tops and jackets. Check out chicos.com. Nothing wrinkles, and with a few items, you can literally have days of travel options!

I agree -- any clothing that can be easily washed, doesn't wrinkle easily, is relatively lightweight and stylish can be "travel" clothing -- and you can find this in any store.

Dillards will have some but one of the best places I've found is at www.rei.com They have great clothing with sunscreen and convertable pants, reversable skirts ect. www.coldwatercreek.com has some nice non-wrinkle clothing for "travel" with a little more flair.

Chico's is the absolute best!!! You can get great deals on the "Traveler's" clothes on sale on their website. You can wad these up & then just shake them out when you arrive. Hand wash in your sink & they dry quickly. Their things are so beautiful I bought them for travel and now wear them to work.

I like WinterSilks for travel tops - I have several of their lightweight silk turtlenecks, which are a warm layer but pack very small. They now have some silk-blend tee shirts in different styles for spring; I have a few silk-cotton tees from Lands End that have been extremely useful, so I may pick up a couple of the WinterSilks tees for when my Lands Ends get worn out. I use their silk nightshirts and underlayers, too. And I got a wonderful black cashmere cardigan on sale at Penney's for about $50, which was perfect for April in London last year! Pants are harder to find; I really want pockets so the Chico's travelpants are not a good staple for me. Good luck in your search!

Magellans sells "Jet Set" travel clothing that packs down very thin and has absolutely no wrinkles. The pants have deep pockets and an elastic waist, there are tank tops, long-sleeve shirts, tunic tops as well as a skirt. Currently on sale on the website.

I also love Chicos travelers line of clothing, I also have linen pants and shorts from Eddie Bauer that were great in Provence last summer. Sierratradingpost.com has great prices, tilley.com has great clothing also.

I'm a khaki and t-shirt person (male as well) but check out Tilley clothes. Expensive, over hyped, but good, high quality stuff.

Dick's Sporting Goods has some nice light clothes. Much cheaper then Tilley.
Even Nike brand is cheaper than Tilley.
I also find nice travel clothes at TJ max, but you have to look more than one time.

Coldwater Creek has good stuff.

Also for travel clothes I shop stores where the qaulity isn't the best because you'll find a lot of easy care rayon/ spandex that you can wash in the tub & hang dry overnight.

Just got a pair of dark wash trouser "jeans" at NY&Company that are mostly poly/rayon- perfect for my next trip!
