Travel Blogging from Ipad 2?

Hi, I am traveling to Europe for a 40-day solo trip in 2 weeks and I would love to be able to share my adventure with family and friends. I recently acquired and Ipad 2 and am looking for an easy to use travel blog. I have looked at Wordpress, Travelpod, Blogger...etc, and am very overwhelmed. Does anyone have a suggestion that is easy to use with an Ipad 2, where I can write brief s, upload photos, and perhaps share a map of where I have been? Thanks so much! Laura

I downloaded the BlogPress app onto my iPad 2 and it worked great. I was able to write my blog and upload photos. I didn't attempt to put any maps in my blog. I am very 'low tech', so if I can do it anyone can!!

Laura, You should be able to use any of the Blogging app's with just the Safari Browser provided on the iPad 2. I use TravelPod and find it very easy to add entries, photos and videos (using my Netbook). It might be a good idea to try and set the Blog up before you leave home, so that you'll have a bit of practice with it. After that, it will be easy to add entries. One point to keep in mind though. I find that publishing a Blog when travelling can be a somewhat "time intensive" task. I try to limit my time on that sort of thing, so that it doesn't detract from my sightseeing too much. Happy travels!

A word of warning; I use Blogspot.com and really like it. But when I tried to use it with an iPad, I found I could not upload photos. The web site is designed to look for photos on the user's computer, but apparently that does not work for iOS (aka mobile devices). It acts as if there are no photos to be found even though I know there are photos on the photo app. That's not a deal breaker for me since I have a Macbook Air that's only slightly larger than the iPad and I travel with that. But I would prefer the iPad if it did everything my baby Macbook does. In other respects, I like blogspot.com too much to change now, even if another blog site did work with the iPad.

Randy's post jogged my memory. My app is Blog Press, but the blog 'address' or whatever you call it is blogspot. I did have trouble uploading photos from my iPad to the blog, and had to add them when I arrived home. I guess I was thinking of the photos I was able to put on Facebook. Also, I did not blog daily. Every few evenings or early mornings when I had the time I would take a few minutes to write about what I had seen and experienced. I did the blog as much to keep a journal to remember the trip as it was to keep my family and friends informed of my activities.

Hello, I have been trying out a few blog apps for my iphone and I came across -everlater-. They have an app now for the ipad and they also have a webpage for support. Have a look, it seems really basic and might be what you are looking for. A couple others are, offexploring, and gogbot where you create postcards with notes and they get sent off from wifi areas. Mobilytrip is another, but I haven't had a good look at it yet. I personally am going with Blogger, as it seemed to have what I was looking for in it. My husband is a computer nerd, so I have at home help. LOL!! I wish you luck, it can be a bit overwhelming with all the choices.

Thank you for the helpful suggestions! :) I will look into the blogs you all have mentioned and test them out from my Ipad to see which one will work best for me. Happy Travels! Laura

Would love to know why Wordpress is overwhelming. I have two Wordpress blogs that I've used since 2008. Nary a problem. Uploading photos easy. Great usage while traveling. Simply download the program, select your look and start blogging. 40 days? Have a GREAT trip!!!

Hi Laura,
I like Blogsy for the iPad. I have had the better luck getting larger sized photos to post to Blogger (blogspot) than with Blogpress. It is expensive for an app ($5) and has a bit of a learning curve though they have video tutorials. The photos part is important to me. But Blogpress is very popular, too.

Thanks for the information Katie. :) I have also downloaded the travelpod app and have tested it with great success. My travels begin tomorrow and I hope it works just as well on the road as it did at home. :) Laura
