I need to purchase a travel adapter to charge an Ipod, Itouch, and toothbrush in Croatia, Austria, Bosnia, Hungary and the Czech Republic. Do I need to purchase a converter and an adapter or is an adapter sufficient? If so, any suggestions welcomed.
Thanks.
Hi Myrna,
Unfortunately, it is difficult to answer because each device may differ. The best thing I can recommend is that you take a look at this article about electricity in Europe, which will help you identify the power ratings of your existing devices. If they work in the 220-230v range, you will only need a plug adapter.
All of Europe uses the same voltage and prongs; from Moscow to Madrid. (And beyond)
I hate to disagree with you, Chris, but there are some variations. For example, the Czech Republic has a slight difference in plugs and voltage, but they are very minor and should not affect the purchase of an adapter or converter.
If you take a look at the european list of voltage and sockets, you will see that there can be a number of variations.
Well true enough, and I had forgotten about Britain, where the plugs are not compatable. But on the mainland of Europe, our round prongs work everywhere (n'est pas?)
Some countries have the third ground (Earth) prong, I suppose?
