Arriving @ Venice airport approx 6:30pm then heading to our B&B near Campo Santi Apostoli area. Any advise what transportation to take for 1st timers? I'm getting more grey hairs worrying about this since we're getting there in evening. Gracias!!

Plenty of options beginning on Page 305 of RS Venice Guide Book 2012. If you already have it, good. If not, you can order it elsewhere on this web site - see "Books".

the daylight time will vary depending on the time of year so your first view of Venice will vary...

Or, you can take a bus or land taxi to Piazzale Roma and then take vaporetto number 1 (bus boat) to Ca d'Oro stop. Follow the disembarking passengers down the alley to the main street (Strada Nuova). Turn right and keep walking to Campo Santi Apostoli, not very far at all and no bridges to traverse.
Or, you can take a water taxi. Ask your B&B, where the taxi should let you off. Good luck.
