Transportation from Rome Airport to Hotel

I would appreciate current information/recommendations regarding transportation--probably either taxi or limo-- from Rome Airport to our hotel. There are 2 of us traveling, arriving at 8am. A friend recommended a limo service but their recommendation is several years old. (I have ruled out the train...the hotel is not near the train station.)

I don't have a recommendation other than a taxi, but just a bit of a warning: we met a couple that got a taxi from the airport to their hotel and the price was outrageous. They later realized that the taxi driver drove around and around to add miles/minutes to increase the fee. So, have an idea about how far away you are and what a reasonable fee should be ahead of time. The hotel may be able to tell you that, ours did.

The fee for taxi services to/from Rome's airports to most places in central Rome is set by law....40 Euro from Fiumicino airport, and 30 Euro from Ciampino airport. The area covers everything "within the Aurelian walls" which covers virtually every hotel tourists would use. That's for up to four people AND luggage. Use only the official white taxis from the cab rank outside the airport, and avoid those trying to pitch "cheap" rides.

Linda,

Even though the Hotel is "not near the train station", I found it very easy to use the Leonardo Express to Termini, and then grab a Taxi outside the front entrance of the station. My Hotel on the last visit was in Trastevere, which is not exactly close to Termini.

Although there appears to be a "flat rate" for Taxi's from the airport to Rome, the travel time can vary depending on traffic conditions while the Leonardo Express isn't affected by those.

If your budget will stand a Limo or whatever, that's certainly an option also.

Happy travels!
