Transportation from Marco Polo to Venice

I have been to Venice twice and it has always been by train. In February I am going to Venice but will fly into Marco Polo Airport. I do not want to take a private taxi for euros 264 and so I was wondering the best way to get into Venice would it be by the Alliguana or bus? My hotel is Loconda Orseolo in St.Marks. Thank you.

On our trip to VCE we caught a nice bus (much like the big tour busses) directly outside the airport. I don't remember what it cost, but I am relatively cheap, so I will assure you it was not much. I believe they are often and effective. Our family of four each with a carry-on and medium sized suit case. This link looks like the info I was given. http://europeforvisitors.com/venice/articles/venice_airport_buses.htm

This buss dropped us at piaza Roma. It would probably require a vaporetto to St. Marks. That is a pretty long walk with luggage.

I am thinking the best way to go is Alliguana at least it stops at St Marks and I only have to walk through the square instead of a bus and then vaporetto. Thank you.

debbie, Although it's not exceptionally fast, the cheapest option is likely the Linea Blu Alilaguna service. If I read the fares correctly, the current charge is 14€. Happy travels!

Hi Debbie, I took the Alilaguna last year. It's true that it's not the fastest, but it is less expensive. I would like to share some experiences: It's a bit nippy, possibly windy out on the water, so wearing a jacket is a must. The ride is rather rough. Often the boat bumps into the pier very hard to stop for passengers. So be careful if you are trying to stand, move, exit etc. It was so loud I couldn't hear myself talk. I finally put on headphones as my ears began to hurt. If your nose is sensitive: You might smell gasoline periodically throughout your ride.
At the time I felt as if I were riding a dragon! :) Ah-h, but it was fun too and quite an adventure, kind of a short cruise with interesting passengers to watch. Have fun and enjoy your trip!
