transitioning through Zurich

We are looking to travel to Greece next May. I have started looking at flights and the best ones (both price and time) are through Zurich. I have flown through Zurich before and found it remarkably stress free. I was wondering whether there were any difficulties flying through Swiss airports this year to other countries (like Heathrow and Amsterdam). Also, Swiss Air is offering ability to change flights but of course, a credit on Swiss Air is more difficult to use than a domestic one. They have some relationship with United. Does anyone know if you can use a credit on Swiss Air on United?

We flew to Italy this summer and the plan was to change planes only in the U.S. Our domestic flight into JFK, however, was delayed and we missed our flight to Milan. We ended up adding a trip through the Paris airport to our itinerary. So from our experience trying to avoid European airports in favor of domestic ones doesn't necessarily work. Thus, I am considering changing flights in Europe next year (and Zurich is much easier than Paris!)

And there are those French labor strikes of which to stay informed!

Probably only on flights they code share on.

I did do a little more digging and the flight is United to Zurich and then Swiss Air to Athens. It is more to have flights changeable but I certainly will do that.

It took us 2 hours to get to our gate for our flight to Milan after getting off the plane from the U.S.! I had never changed planes in Paris and certainly do not want to do that again. I do understand why people say not to change planes at CDG! We had to go through security twice. But in the end, we got to Milan only 4 hours late so all was good.

I suppose that no posts on transitioning through Switzerland is a positive thing!
