Trains and platforms for at Innsbruck HBF and Verona(Salzburg to Milan itinerary)

Hi! We already have a eurail pass and I'm trying to reserve tickets from Salzburg to Milan and I guess we have to change trains at Innsbruck HBF (ECB 1289) and Verona (FB 9718) to get to Milan. There's about a 15-20 min alloted time to change but I wanted to know if that is enough time for us? Also, how will I know which platform to go on for our next train after we get off on these stops? Are the platforms easy to find at Innsbruck HBF and at Verona Porta Nuova? Thanks in advance!:)

European train stations have electronic boards that change constantly showing the arriving and departing trains--and the train tracks and time. Rest assured that you won't have any problems navigating the stations mentioned. They're very popular stations, and many trains go through each.

Those connection times are generous. You could do it in half the time, but don't dawdle. Know when the time for your stop is coming up and be prepared to get off with your luggage. Try not to get stuck at the end of the line of people who are not in a hurry. If you are reserving through Rail Europe, you may need to break up the request and reserve each leg separately. The seat reservation is optional for Salzburg-Innsbruck. These would also all be pretty easy to book a few days ahead at a train station, such as when you activate the rail pass.

Use the Bahn Query page to find the platform numbers. For the date I tried, the trains from Salzburg came in on either platform (Gleis) 2 or 3 and the ECs to Verona used track 3. I think Innsbruck is the typical through station with platform 1 next to the station, tracks 1 and 2 sharing a "ditch", and tracks 2 and 3 sharing a platform, etc. So it's either the same track or cross platform. You could do that in a few minutes.

This page has two maps of the track layout in Innsbruck Hbf.

For the trains you'll be using in Italy, the platform numbers are not usually specified and even if they are, they frequently change. The most reliable method is to use the electronic sign board to find your next platform number. Note that in some cases this won't be shown until 20-30 minutes before the train departs.

As I recall, there are two parts to Verona Porta Nuova station. Your train from Innsbruck will arrive at one part and you'll have to walk to the other section for your connection (it's not a long walk).
