Train Tickets for August

My sister and I will be traveling overnight via train from the Czech Republic to Italy in August. On the bahn.de website, the most practical sequence of trains was Cesky Krumlov to Cesky Budejovice, then CB to Linz, then overnight Linz to Venice, and then highspeed Venice to Florence.

My question is, would the only necessary tickets to get ahead of time be the Linz --> Venice overnight tickets? Would the other more regional legs of the journey be fine to get once we are there? Or should we perhaps book the high speed Venice --> Florence leg, considering the summer travel surge. Thanks in advance!

If you book the Venice to Florence leg in advance, you should be able to get Economy or Super Economy fares.

Something else to consider is using a shuttle from Cesky Krumlov direct to Linz, which I believe is faster than the trains you outlined. Rick's book has details of several shuttle services.

Book that international overnight train on the Austrian web site, not the Italian one, as discussed in forum posts, such as this one. There is no deadline to book any of the tickets, including the reserved Venice-Florence trains, but you can do so as soon as you're ready to lock in a date and time.
