Train Reservation - Helpds Needed!

Hi Everyone,

Have been reading comments and suggestions in RickSteves.com, and thinking Train Reservation (Day train) is about EUR3 - EUR25?

But when I trai reserve a train www.RailEurope.com for Paris --> Interlaken 12:00, it requested to pay ~USD250. (I have checked 'with Eurail Global Pass'). Anything I missed out? or i should make reservation at another website?

Many Thanks for your help!

I'm looking at the standard fare on the Swiss train site (www.sbb.ch/en) and I do see 182Euro or $282. But, unlike RailEurope, I do see specials with restrictions as low as 121Euro or $187.

You might also try the French site www.voyages-sncf.com. I'd do a lookup there but I haven't really learned how to navigate that site. They often have specials.

A third site is the German site www.bahn.de. All three sites mentioned above will show the runs you need.

Rail Europe is an agent that deals with all the country's rail systems, isn't it. I think they tack on their commission. Better to buy direct if at all possible.

Are you only making a reservation to go with your rail pass? I think that's what is referred to on Rick's website.

The Rail Europe sit might be thinking you also want a ticket.

Thanks Larry & Sandra for the reply.

Yes. I have bought the Global Pass (15 days). I'm trying to make reservations on Fast Speed Trains for this case.

I try Reserving train Paris --> Basel 6am, and RailEurope.com charging USD22. I think this is a cheaper option.

When I try Paris --> Basel 12pm became USD288.

Actually, I know this is TGV Train, but don't think I can reserve directly with TGV, unless i'm in Europe and reserve over counter?

Thank You!
